
The Punjab government, led by the Aam Aadmi Party, has announced a significant relief package for individuals impacted by the recent floods. Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann unveiled several key measures on Monday to provide immediate aid to the flood victims. National convener of AAP, Arvind Kejriwal, and Punjab’s in-charge, Manish Sisodia, along with other senior leaders, characterized the CM Bhagwant Mann’s announcements as historic. Kejriwal praised CM Mann for making such comprehensive announcements for the people, a feat unseen by any state government in the country. He pointed out that even while battling illness, CM Bhagwant Mann prioritized the well-being of Punjabis in his announcements. Kejriwal highlighted the resilience, courage, brotherhood, and selfless service shown by Punjabis during this challenging time. He acknowledged the tireless efforts of AAP leaders and workers who have been serving the public for days. Kejriwal urged party workers to ensure CM Mann’s announcements reach the public, recognizing the importance of this task. Sisodia also praised CM Bhagwant Mann’s historic announcements for the flood victims. He commended CM Bhagwant Mann for his compassionate leadership, particularly while hospitalized. Sisodia stated that the historic decisions made by Bhagwant Mann for the flood victims on Monday aim to provide relief to every household, farmer, and laborer, and are likely unprecedented in the country’s history. CM Bhagwant Mann, despite his poor health, is committed to helping those affected by the floods. The CM has declared that farmers will receive ₹20,000 per acre as compensation, with checks being delivered directly to them. Families of those who died in the floods will receive ₹4 lakh, and damage to homes will be assessed for compensation. The installment of loans taken by flood-affected farmers from cooperative societies and agricultural banks has been postponed for six months, and financial assistance will be provided for livestock losses.
