IIT-Kharagpur is facing a serious crisis following the discovery of a PhD student’s body in his hostel room on Saturday. This marks the fifth student death under suspicious circumstances at the institute this year. Harshkumar Pandey, 27, who was studying for a PhD in Mechanical Engineering, was found dead in his room at BR Ambedkar Hall. When his parents could not reach him, they contacted the authorities. The police were called and discovered Pandey’s body. This recent incident is part of a disturbing pattern of student deaths at the prestigious institution.
