The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a weather advisory, forecasting heavy to very heavy rainfall across the country over the next six to seven days. The monsoon has become active, and its effects will be felt across large areas of northwest, central, and eastern India. Several states are expected to experience continuous rainfall, including Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, Bihar, West Bengal, Sikkim, and Jharkhand. Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand, and Odisha may receive exceptionally heavy rainfall for a few days. The IMD also predicts heavy to very heavy rainfall in Konkan and Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, and parts of Gujarat. While this will benefit agriculture, it could also lead to waterlogging and flash floods in some regions. Saurashtra and Kutch are also expected to receive considerable rainfall. In addition, isolated areas of Northeast India and coastal regions of Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Kerala, and Karnataka may also experience heavy rainfall.
