
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a broad alert encompassing cold wave threats and heavy rainfall warnings across several Indian regions. Punjab is specifically under a yellow alert, with forecasts indicating isolated cold wave conditions that could bring a harsh chill.
Beyond the north, the focus shifts to heavy precipitation. Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, and the Andaman & Nicobar Islands are bracing for substantial rainfall, categorized as heavy to very heavy. Residents in these areas should be prepared for potential waterlogged conditions and related inconveniences. The Andaman & Nicobar Islands are also at risk of thundersqualls and powerful winds, necessitating caution.
Maritime advisories are in effect for several coastal stretches. Squally weather is expected along the southern coast of Kerala, extending to Lakshadweep, the Comorin area, and the southern Bay of Bengal. Coastal regions of Tamil Nadu and the Andaman Sea are also included in these warnings.
Navigational warnings are amplified with predictions of squally winds across the Gulf of Mannar, near Sri Lanka, and over the south and north Andaman Sea. The southeastern Bay of Bengal and the south Andaman Sea are predicted to see the strongest squally winds, urging extreme vigilance for all sea-faring activities.
Delhi is experiencing a noticeable drop in temperature, accompanied by fog. The national capital’s weather forecast includes mainly clear skies but also shallow to moderate fog in the mornings. While daytime temperatures are expected to reach a mild 25°C, nighttime temperatures are set to plummet to between 8°C and 10°C, mirroring the sharp drop to 8°C recorded on Wednesday.
