A monsoon alert has been issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD), forecasting significant rainfall across India from June 22 to 27. The IMD has predicted intense downpours, particularly in Gujarat, Konkan & Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, and Marathawada. Heavy to very heavy rain is also expected to persist in Northeast India over the next week. The southwest monsoon is rapidly advancing, with its arrival expected in the remaining parts of the North Arabian Sea, parts of Rajasthan, West Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, and Ladakh within two days. Further progress is anticipated in Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, and Delhi. Delhi is likely to receive rain starting from June 22, which could be the earliest monsoon onset since 2013. After a break, areas like Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, Gangetic West Bengal, Bihar, Jharkhand, and Odisha are predicted to have continuous rainfall, which might disrupt traffic and cause waterlogging.
