Following the announcement of a new trade agreement, Prime Minister Modi met with King Charles at Sandringham Estate. This meeting underscored the strengthening bilateral relationship between India and the UK. The Royal Family noted the meeting, including the presentation of a tree to the King, inspired by PM Modi’s environmental initiative, ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’. The FTA guarantees that 99% of Indian exports will enter the UK duty-free. Simultaneously, tariffs on UK goods imported into India will be cut. This is expected to make goods more affordable for Indian consumers. The deal is particularly favorable for India’s agricultural exports, opening up the UK market to a range of products. Additionally, the agreement includes reduced import duties on UK-produced whisky and gin and lower tariffs on automobiles, subject to limitations.
