
The Indian government, under the leadership of Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal, is currently analyzing the effects of the 25% US tariffs and is prepared to take necessary steps to protect national economic interests. Speaking in the Lok Sabha, Goyal affirmed the government’s commitment to this cause. He mentioned ongoing discussions between the Ministry of Commerce and Industry and various stakeholders, including exporters and industry leaders, to assess the situation. Goyal emphasized the government’s dedication to supporting farmers, laborers, entrepreneurs, industrialists, exporters, MSMEs, and other industry participants. He also shared details about the Bilateral Trade Agreement discussions with the US, initiated in March 2025, with an aim to finalize the initial stage by the end of 2025. Goyal further described the implementation of the US tariffs, including the initial announcement and subsequent extensions.
