Larissa Nery, a Brazilian model, has humorously addressed her unexpected involvement in an Indian election controversy involving alleged voter fraud. Her photograph was presented by politician Rahul Gandhi as evidence of a voter being registered multiple times in Haryana. Nery, in a social media video, expressed her disbelief and amusement at her old photo, which depicts her as a young woman of 18-20, being used in the Indian electoral context. She stated that she was alerted to the situation by a reporter’s call and subsequent messages, finding the entire episode quite bizarre. The model conveyed her confusion as to why her image was being used to impersonate Indian voters. Adding another layer to the story, a voter named Poonam, whose legitimate voter ID card displayed Larissa’s photograph, confirmed her vote in the Haryana polls. This incident has led to political criticism, with opponents accusing the Congress party of intentionally spreading false information about the electoral process and the Election Commission.
