Manish Sisodia, a prominent leader of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), has placed the blame squarely on the BJP and Congress for the dire state of India’s education system. He asserted that while countries around the world are preparing their children for the future, India is failing to equip its students with even the basic skills necessary for the AI economy. Sisodia argued that the negligence and policies of consecutive governments, led by the BJP and Congress, have led to the deterioration of education in India. He emphasized the AAP’s commitment to improving government schools in areas where they govern and their fight to prioritize education elsewhere. He announced a plan for AAP representatives from 20 states to send a team of 3,000 volunteers to inspect government schools across the country and reveal the true state of education. Sisodia criticized the government’s education policies and highlighted the discrepancy between its claims and the reality on the ground. He cited the Jhalawar incident as an example of the government’s failure to prioritize school infrastructure. He pointed out the vast difference between India’s approach and the focus on AI and robotics education in countries like Japan and South Korea. Sisodia also criticized the lack of investment in teacher training and the poor conditions of many government schools. Sanjay Singh, another AAP leader, supported Sisodia’s claims, contrasting AAP’s focus on education and healthcare with the BJP’s perceived focus on other issues. Harjot Singh Bains, the Education Minister of Punjab, highlighted the improvements in education in Punjab under the AAP government. Sisodia concluded by condemning the lack of progress in implementing the 2020 NEP and emphasizing the need to prioritize AI, coding, and robotics in schools. He pointed out that both the BJP and Congress have failed to address the shortcomings of the education system. He emphasized that nearly 90% of the government schools are in poor condition.
