Following India’s triumph over Pakistan in the Asia Cup final, Priyanka Chaturvedi, a leader from the Shiv Sena UBT, raised a critical point about the allocation of funds generated during the tournament. She pointed out that the money from the Asia Cup goes to the Pakistan Cricket Board, which could potentially use the funds to rebuild terrorist camps, specifically mentioning Muridke. Chaturvedi stressed the importance of not getting carried away by the victory celebrations and instead focusing on the serious implications of this financial transaction. She emphasized that the conflict between India and Pakistan is not limited to the cricket pitch, but also involves the challenge of terrorism. According to her, every Indian should remember that the rivalry is not simply about sports but about the harm it causes to the country. The comments followed the April 22 terrorist attack in Pahalgam, which resulted in 26 deaths, and the subsequent Operation Sindoor by the Indian army on May 7, targeting several terrorist hideouts and Pakistani airbases in Rawalpindi and Muridke. Chaturvedi’s statement reflects a concern about the potential misuse of funds and its impact on national security.
