A rat was found inside an IndiGo aircraft at Kanpur airport, leading to a three-hour delay for the flight. The aircraft had 140 passengers on board when the incident occurred.
Passengers alerted the crew to the rat’s presence. The flight was supposed to take off at 2:55 am bound for Delhi. After the passengers were evacuated, a search for the rat was initiated.
The flight was slated to land in Delhi at 4:10 pm but instead touched down at 7:16 pm because of the delay.
In a related incident, an IndiGo flight traveling from Mumbai to Phuket was diverted to Chennai on September 19 due to a security concern reported on the aircraft. IndiGo officials confirmed that standard security procedures were put into place and that the flight would undergo the necessary security checks in Chennai. The flight’s continuation was postponed to a later time due to the night curfew at Phuket airport.
