
A bridge collapse on the Indrayani River near Talegaon, Pune, on Sunday afternoon has led to a devastating outcome, with four fatalities and 51 injuries reported. The incident unfolded around 3:15 pm, and officials were notified around 3:30 pm, leading to the swift deployment of rescue teams. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis announced Rs 5 lakh in aid for the families of those who lost their lives, with the government also undertaking the responsibility of covering medical costs for the injured. The deceased have been identified as Chandrakant Salve, Rohit Mane, and Vihaan Mane, with one individual still unidentified. Approximately 15-20 individuals were believed to be on the bridge when it collapsed, according to initial reports. District Collector Jitendra Dudi provided an update on the situation, emphasizing the prompt response of the rescue teams, comprised of about 250 individuals. The Quick Response Team has arrived at the scene to assess the situation. Union Home Minister Amit Shah expressed his sorrow regarding the incident and communicated with CM Fadnavis, offering his support and prayers for the recovery of the injured.
