The incident took place in the village of Surajpur. According to the family, the baby, who was approximately two and a half months old, was sleeping in his room when the monkeys are thought to have removed him. The family later found the child in a drum filled with water on the roof. The child did not survive the ordeal, and was pronounced dead after being taken to a doctor. The police were called to investigate. The family members reported that they were occupied with chores at the time of the incident and were unaware of what happened.
