An investigation is underway following a devastating stampede at a rally in Karur, Tamil Nadu, organized by actor Vijay’s political party, TVK, that led to 39 fatalities. The rally was scheduled to begin at 3 PM, but the crowd started to gather much earlier. Vijay’s late arrival, coupled with the lack of provisions for the waiting crowd, is believed to have contributed to the chaos. The DGP confirmed that 500 police officers were deployed at the venue where Vijay was to address the crowd, but the crowd size was significantly larger than anticipated.
