AAP MLA Mehraj Malik, who is currently in custody, has made an appeal to Chief Minister Omar Abdullah from prison. The plea, as detailed by AAP spokesperson Appu Singh Slathia, urges the CM to visit the Doda district, Malik’s constituency, to survey the devastation caused by floods. Malik also expressed his concern regarding the recurring closures of the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway, which, according to him, has resulted in substantial losses for apple farmers. The detained MLA, also the head of AAP’s Jammu-Kashmir unit, emphasized the region’s economic reliance on the apple industry and the impact of highway closures. He urged the Chief Minister to supervise relief, rehabilitation, and compensation efforts in the area. Mehraj Malik was arrested under the Public Safety Act (PSA) in Doda district on September 8th for allegedly disturbing public order and is currently lodged in Kathua District Jail.
