
A significant explosion rocked the headquarters of the 16 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) in Surankote, Poonch district, Jammu and Kashmir, on Monday evening. The incident, which occurred at approximately 7:45 PM, resulted in the death of an army soldier. The deceased soldier, identified as Sepoy Bhavesh Chaudhary from the 18 MAC, has deeply impacted the army and the nation.
The blast’s intensity caused considerable alarm among the residents of the area. In the aftermath, the Surankote market and adjacent locations were subject to enhanced security measures. A joint operation, including the army and Jammu and Kashmir Police, was promptly initiated, and the area was cordoned off to allow for a comprehensive search. The investigation is ongoing to pinpoint the precise cause of the explosion.
Currently, the investigation is trying to determine the exact nature of the explosion. Whether the blast was a result of a terrorist act or a non-intentional incident remains to be ascertained. The army’s investigation teams and bomb disposal squads are collecting evidence from the scene. Security forces have raised the alert level in the area and are vigilantly monitoring for potential terrorist activity.
In a separate event, two additional army soldiers were injured in another grenade explosion on Monday in the Draba area of the Poonch district. The cause of this incident is under scrutiny. Both injured soldiers received medical attention and are currently recovering in a military hospital. Their health status is reported as stable.
