West Singhbhum, Jharkhand, witnessed a continued crackdown on the banned CPI (Maoist) organization on Friday. Security forces, as part of a special operation in the Kolhan-Saranda area, demolished three Naxalite bunkers. A substantial amount of Naxalite materials was seized during this action. West Singhbhum’s Superintendent of Police, Rakesh Ranjan, stated that key Maoist figures, including Misir Besra, were planning disruptive activities in the Saranda and Kolhan regions. On August 6, the police received a tip about concealed supplies in the Jaraikela area, which the Naxalites could use in attacks. A combined team comprising Chaibasa police, Cobra 209 Battalion, CRPF, and Jharkhand Jaguar launched a search. The operation led to the destruction of three bunkers near Handekuli, within the Jaraikela police station’s jurisdiction. Recovered items included batteries, uniforms, boots, and other essentials. The recovered items are being examined. Security forces are maintaining constant surveillance of Naxalite activities. The joint operation is ongoing, and the aim is to eliminate potential hideouts.
