The Bharat Bandh is anticipated to affect Jharkhand significantly, with an estimated 250 million workers across the nation participating in the strike. The strike is a protest against the government’s labor and agricultural policies, organized by ten central trade unions and their allied organizations. In Jharkhand, the strike is expected to disrupt operations in banking, insurance, postal services, and coal mines. Labor unions and political parties have declared support for the strike, with workers from the coal industry, banks, government, and other sectors planning to participate. A torchlight procession in Ranchi was conducted to rally support. Major demands include the cancellation of labor codes, minimum wage and pension guarantees, measures to curb inflation, preventing privatization, and ensuring workers’ rights and public services. The strike will affect banking, insurance, postal services, coal mines, and state transport. Private sector companies, hospitals, and educational institutions are expected to function as usual.
