The BJP has appointed Aditya Sahu, a Rajya Sabha member, as the working president of its Jharkhand unit. Sahu expressed his appreciation to PM Narendra Modi and Amit Shah, underscoring that the party and the nation come first. He vowed to serve the BJP with honesty and dedication.
JP Nadda, the national president of the BJP, made the appointment. Sahu replaces Ravindra Kumar Rai, who was appointed last October before the state assembly elections. The Jharkhand Mukti Morcha won the elections, defeating the BJP-led NDA. Sahu was nominated to the Rajya Sabha in 2022 and was elected unopposed.
The change in leadership within a year reflects the party’s aim to restructure its state unit and strengthen its organizational capabilities in the eastern state. Sahu extended his thanks to PM Modi, Amit Shah, JP Nadda, and other leaders for their confidence in him.
In Ranchi, Sahu stated his long-term commitment to the BJP, which began in 1980. He emphasized his dedication to serving the party and prioritizing national interests. Upon assuming his new role, Sahu stated he would uphold the responsibilities placed upon him. Sahu reminisced about his early days as a BJP worker, including his role in distributing election slips in 1980, where he worked diligently even in cold weather.
He spoke about his advancement within the party, including his time as district vice-president and his four terms as a member of the state working committee. He has also served as the organization’s general secretary of the Jharkhand BJP. He is now taking on the responsibility of the working state president, which he intends to fulfill with complete integrity.
The appointment of Aditya Sahu, an OBC, as the Jharkhand working president, is a move by the BJP to gain support from the OBC community. Sahu, who is from Kunchu village in Ranchi, has been a BJP supporter for over four decades and is well-regarded by the public. He is currently a BJP Rajya Sabha MP and has also taught children.
