
Last night in Latakandar village, Shikaripara police station area, Dumka district, a man was the victim of a violent assault where his tongue was cut. Following the attack, the injured individual was first brought to Shikaripara Community Health Center. He was subsequently referred for further treatment. The family decided to move him to West Bengal for advanced medical care, which he is currently receiving in Bardhaman.
Local villagers detained a woman believed to be involved in the attack, tying her to a tree and contacting the police. Upon arriving at the scene, the Shikaripara police freed the woman and brought her to the station for questioning. Laltu Sheikh’s wife, Jelenur Bibi, filed a complaint with the Shikaripara police. In her statement, she detailed that her husband, Laltu Sheikh, left his home to go to Ganpura. When he failed to return, she and others searched for him, eventually finding him unable to speak, with blood coming from his mouth. He indicated that Kalavati Murmu and a group of others from Latakandar village had attacked him, tied him up, cut off his tongue, and beaten him. The wife’s complaint is requesting that the authorities take serious legal action against the people involved. Police officials have confirmed that an investigation into the incident is underway, and they are working to obtain the victim’s statement, which will provide more clarity on the events.
