An unsettling wave of burglaries has hit the Ulidih police station area in East Singhbhum, with thieves successfully targeting three homes and absconding with substantial quantities of cash and valuable gold and silver ornaments. The incidents, which took place on Tuesday night, have left the local community in a state of alarm, particularly as some break-ins occurred remarkably close to the police station.
Residents of Shankosai Road Number 2 experienced a devastating loss when Bajanti Devi’s family returned from a wedding to find their home’s main gate lock shattered. The family had departed around 9 PM, only to discover at 2 AM that Rs 70,000 in cash and jewelry estimated at Rs 20 lakh were gone from an almirah. The sheer scale of the theft left them reeling.
In a parallel crime, the residence of Oranganath on the floor above was also raided by the same perpetrators. This burglary saw the theft of Rs 20,000 in cash and jewelry valued at approximately Rs 12 lakh. The combined losses from these two adjacent properties amount to around Rs 90,000 in cash and over Rs 32 lakh in precious ornaments.
Adding to the growing criminal activity, Pawan Kumar’s house, located a mere 200 meters from the Ulidih police station, was also broken into. Mr. Kumar had also been away at a family function in Adityapur. He returned late to find his home ransacked and jewelry worth approximately Rs 20 lakh missing.
Authorities at the Ulidih police station have been alerted to all incidents and have launched a full-scale investigation. Officers are diligently examining the premises and gathering evidence, including reviewing local CCTV recordings. The persistent burglaries have fostered an atmosphere of unease and insecurity throughout the area.
