
A major road accident in Chhatarmandu on Monday involved a passenger bus and a coal-carrying truck, resulting in three fatalities. The collision also led to injuries for around 24 other individuals, with six in critical condition.
Among the deceased were the truck driver, Manish Kumar, of Bengavari Keredari Hazaribagh, and a woman, Vilaso Devi, from Jenamod Bokaro. Following immediate treatment, more than half a dozen injured passengers were transferred from Sadar Hospital to RIMS for further medical care. Ramgarh police arrived at the scene promptly and initiated rescue operations.
The Shri Gokul bus (JH 10 BM 8219), en route from Dhanbad to Ramgarh, attempted to overtake another vehicle. This maneuver resulted in a collision with a coal-laden truck (JH 13 C 0232) traveling in the opposite direction. The truck driver and a female passenger died at the scene.
With the help of local people, the injured were transported to Sadar Hospital by the police. Doctors then referred six severely injured patients to RIMS. Many other injured were treated at Sadar Hospital. The impact was so powerful that both vehicles suffered significant damage.
An advocate was also a passenger on the bus that was damaged in the accident. Arvind Kumar Pathak, a member of the Ramgarh Bar Association from Gola, was traveling to Ramgarh. He later died during treatment at RIMS.
The injured passengers treated at Sadar Hospital include Bijendra Rajwar and Kanhu Kumar (Chas Bokaro), Suraj Rajwar (Balidih, Bokaro), Madhu Rani (Bokaro Steel City), Sarita Kumari and W. Mahato (Katra, Dhanbad), Surkhi Pandey and Mantu Kumar (Peterwar), Saguffa alias Pammi (Indrajara Charhi), Shibu Sav and Pano Devi (Jenamod Bokaro), Basanti Devi (Rangamati, Chas), and eight others, including five children from the same family, all residents of Bokaro.
