The Cabinet has decided to form a Group of Ministers to assess and make recommendations on the designation of the Saranda region in West Singhbhum district as a Wildlife Sanctuary. This decision follows discussions during a recent cabinet meeting. The Group of Ministers will undertake a comprehensive study of the region’s economic and social factors, submitting its findings to the state government for consideration. Relevant departments and stakeholders will also contribute their perspectives before the final decision is made by the Cabinet. The proposed sanctuary will encompass an area of 575.19 square kilometers, including several villages in West Singhbhum district, to protect the biodiversity of the area. The Saranda forest is known for its rich biodiversity, including the endangered flying lizard and a variety of other species.
