The confrontation escalated from verbal abuse to physical violence when the guards objected. Prem Kumar Upadhyay suffered serious injuries in the assault. In addition, a motorcycle parked nearby was damaged when a heavy object was used to strike its fuel tank. The incident was reported to the police by the colliery management, prompting a police response. Following the attack, the security staff submitted a written request to the project officer, calling for enhanced security measures and demanding that action be taken against those responsible. When questioned, security guards Shankar Kumar Das and Dilip Ravidas confirmed that they were attacked by a group of 5-6 people, and that one of their colleagues suffered a head injury and a vehicle was damaged.
