A recent CCTV recording from the Jharkhand Assembly, featuring a Congress leader and Babulal Marandi, has become the subject of intense media scrutiny and allegations. The footage, taken on December 10, 2025, around 11 AM, shows the two leaders at a gate commonly used by legislators. Some news channels are attempting to build a narrative around this clip, which the Congress leader dismisses as ‘false, baseless, and imaginary.’
The leader has voiced their anguish over the one-sided portrayal and reputational damage being inflicted without due process. They stressed that the video was filmed in a highly public space within the assembly, a location constantly abuzz with activity from MLAs, the press, and officials. The interaction was entirely innocent, revolving around a news report published in a local daily.
Contrary to reports of a pen drive exchange, the leader asserts that no such transfer occurred. The discussion was about a newspaper article that the leader was also planning to raise in the assembly. The meeting with Marandi happened incidentally as they were both exiting through the main assembly gate.
The leader highlighted the absurdity of conducting any illicit act under the watchful eyes of numerous individuals and multiple CCTV cameras in broad daylight. With a mobile phone and a newspaper in one hand and a handkerchief in the other, the leader’s hands were occupied, making the alleged transaction impossible. They urged observers to watch the video closely and determine the true nature of the interaction – a discussion, not a handover.
This incident is interpreted by the Congress leader as part of a larger conspiracy by a group that has actively worked against their political career since their move to Congress. This group is accused of past efforts to disrupt the party and obstruct legislative mergers. The leader affirmed their commitment to championing public interests, regardless of the opposition.
