Mallikarjun Kharge: Jharkhand Pradesh Congress Committee is organizing a ‘Constitution Bachao Rally’ in Ranchi on 6 May. The rally to be held in the old assembly ground will be addressed by several senior leaders including the party’s national president Mallikarjun Kharge. (Mallikarjun kharge)

This is the first time after the India alliance victory in the assembly elections held in the state in November 2024, when a big political rally is being organized by the Congress in Jharkhand.

The party’s Jharkhand in -charge K.K. Addressing a press conference held at the State Congress office on Monday, Raju said that through this rally, we will tell the people of the state how the BJP -led central government is taking decisions contrary to the basic sentiments of the Constitution. We will demand support from the people of the state to the fight to protect the Constitution.

Of. Raju said that the rally will mainly raise his voice with his three demands. Our first demand is that the process of caste census in the country should be completed under a timeframe and after this, the silling of 50 percent reservation should be abolished to ensure social justice in proportion to the population. The second demand is to enact a law in the national budget of the country to allocate the amount in proportion to their population on the schemes of development and upliftment of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes. The third major demand is to ensure reservation for Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and OBCs in all private educational institutions across the country.

He said that the Congress leadership was raising the demand for caste census for the last three years. Party President Mallikarjun Kharge and party leader Rahul Gandhi continuously raised this demand in favor of social justice from Parliament to every meeting-rally and every platform. On the other hand, the Bharatiya Janata Party continued to oppose it. The BJP even called those who supported the demand for caste census as Urban Naxal. But, if our continuous demand increased, the central government was forced to accept this demand. (Mallikarjun kharge)

The press conference was also addressed by the party’s Jharkhand cum in -charge Siribella Prasad, state president Keshav Mahato Kamlesh, in -charge of the administrative department of AICC, Gurdeep Sappal. On this occasion, Jharkhand government ministers Irfan Ansari, Deepika Pandey Singh, former Minister of Government of India Subodh Kant Sahai and other leaders were present.
