The Muslim community in Bokaro district expressed strong resentment on Saturday following a contentious social media post about Prophet Muhammad made by Ramkinker Pandey in the Bermo police station area. Community members took to the streets and demanded the administration take immediate action. In response to the severity of the situation, the Bermo police acted swiftly. They brought Ramkinker Pandey to the police station for questioning to prevent the situation from worsening. The police announced an investigation into the disputed post, promising strong action against anyone found responsible. During the protests, the angry crowd surrounded the police station and shouted controversial slogans like ‘Sar Tan Se Juda’ in front of the authorities. The protesters stated that any actions that disrespect religious beliefs would not be accepted. Both the police and the administration appealed for peace. Local social workers and community leaders also urged all sections of society to remain calm. The Bokaro SP, commenting on the ‘Sar Tan Se Juda’ slogans, stated that an investigation is underway and that appropriate measures are being taken. They noted that such actions, despite the police addressing the community’s grievances, are unacceptable. An FIR has been registered, and six individuals have been arrested. This serves as a warning to those who believe they can act with impunity and try to take the law into their own hands. Any attempt to disrupt harmony will not be tolerated.
