
Authorities in the Nirsa sub-division, including Chirakunda and Kalubathan police, have taken decisive action against the illegal alcohol trade. A large-scale operation on Wednesday night resulted in the seizure of a substantial amount of both domestic and foreign liquor. The police also made arrests, apprehending individuals involved in the illicit business. Further investigations and raids are underway to locate and arrest other suspects. Details of the operation were shared by Nirsa SDPO Rajat Manik Bakhla at a press conference held at the Maithon office on Thursday. According to SDPO Bakhla, the raids were conducted following instructions from senior police officials and were aimed at combating the illegal production and sale of alcohol. One raid took place at the residence of Raghunath Tudu in Kaithardih village, Kalubathan OP area, leading to a large recovery of alcohol. During the raid, a liquor seller named Mangal Tudu was arrested, and he provided information about other people involved in the illegal activities. The police are actively searching for those individuals. Another raid occurred at a hotel near the Junkundar phatak vegetable market in the Chirakunda police station area, where a consignment of foreign and country liquor was confiscated. The hotel operator attempted to escape but was quickly apprehended by the police. Both individuals who were arrested have been charged and placed in judicial custody. SDPO Bakhla affirmed that the operations would continue, with the police committed to taking action against anyone involved in the illegal alcohol trade.
