
In a significant operation, police cracked down on the illegal alcohol trade in the Chirukunda and Kalubathan areas, under the Nirsa sub-division. The joint effort by Chirukunda and Kalubathan police, conducted late Wednesday night, led to the seizure of a large quantity of country-made and foreign liquor. Two individuals were arrested in connection with the illegal alcohol business. Furthermore, the police have launched an intensified search to apprehend the remaining suspects who are still at large. Details regarding the operation were shared by Nirsa SDPO Rajat Manik Bakhla at a press conference held at the Maithon office on Thursday. The SDPO stated that the raids were conducted on the instructions of senior police officials to curb the illegal manufacture and sale of alcohol. In the Kalubathan OP area, a raid was conducted at the house of Raghunath Tudu in Kaithardih village, which resulted in the recovery of a large amount of alcohol. Mangal Tudu, a liquor vendor, was arrested at the scene and provided information about other individuals during questioning. The police are actively searching for those suspects. Concurrently, a raid at a hotel near the Junkundar Phatak vegetable market in the Chirukunda police station area led to the seizure of a consignment of foreign and country-made liquor. The hotel operator tried to escape but was immediately apprehended. The two arrested individuals have been booked under relevant sections and remanded to judicial custody. The SDPO confirmed that this action will be continued, and no one involved in the illicit alcohol trade will be spared.
