In a striking contrast, Delhi is expected to remain dry, with no rain predicted for the upcoming five days, extending to September 22nd.
Delhi has not recorded any rainfall since September 8th. According to the IMD, clear skies and sunshine are expected in Delhi until September 22nd, with maximum temperatures reaching up to 34 degrees Celsius and minimum temperatures around 24 degrees Celsius.
Meerut is situated approximately 82 km from Delhi Station, while Mathura is 183 km away. These two districts are under a 48-hour rain alert, with predictions of cloudy skies and potential thunderstorms. The maximum temperature is expected to be 34 degrees Celsius, and the minimum will be around 25 degrees Celsius.
The monsoon season is ongoing and causing heavy rainfall in several states. In mountainous regions like Uttarakhand, heavy rain has resulted in devastation. A cloudburst occurred in Dehradun on Tuesday, leading to landslides and heavy rainfall in the Sahastradhara area. The Meteorological Department has predicted heavy rainfall in various states.
Heavy rainfall is underway in Uttar Pradesh. Today, western UP and many areas in eastern UP can expect rain and thunderstorms. Eastern UP may experience heavy to very heavy rainfall in some areas. Both regions are likely to experience thunderstorms and lightning. Over the next 3-4 days, Purvanchal, Madhyanchal, and Terai districts may see thunderstorms accompanied by moderate and sometimes heavy rainfall.
Bihar is expected to receive heavy rainfall until September 19th. Rainfall is forecasted in Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, and western Madhya Pradesh today. Eastern Madhya Pradesh might also see rain. West Bengal and Odisha are also likely to experience rainfall. Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim may receive heavy rainfall until September 18th. Rainfall is expected in central Maharashtra, Marathwada, and Vidarbha.
For Punjab and Haryana, a significant heavy rain alert has been issued for Haryana. Rain is possible in several districts of the state today. According to the Meteorological Department, weather activities can be expected in the state from September 17-20. Similar conditions are likely to occur in Punjab, with rain expected in many areas.
Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh are currently battling severe devastation due to heavy rainfall. A cloudburst occurred in Dehradun, Uttarakhand, yesterday. Reports of missing persons and fatalities have surfaced. Significant devastation has also taken place in the Mandi district of Himachal Pradesh due to heavy rain. The Meteorological Department has issued an alert for heavy rainfall in 7 districts of Uttarakhand, including Dehradun, Chamoli, Nainital, and Champawat. Himachal Pradesh may see relief from the rain starting tomorrow.
