Dhanbad’s top officials, Deputy Commissioner Aditya Ranjan and Senior Superintendent of Police Prabhat Kumar, recently visited the Gaya Bridge Underpass to review the progress of its widening. This infrastructure enhancement is being hailed as a permanent solution to a persistent problem for the city, with the official deadline set for December 2026. Efforts are underway to expedite the process, aiming for completion before the stipulated date.
The project involves a multi-departmental approach, with representatives from water, electricity, roads, the city council, railways, and BSNL working in tandem. The presence of several major express train routes overhead adds to the project’s complexity and logistical planning.
During the site visit, officials emphasized the need for synchronized efforts. All departments were instructed to complete their respective tasks on time to avoid any delays in the underpass expansion. A notable proposal introduced is the creation of a utility corridor. This dedicated space will house essential services such as water supply lines, sewage systems, gas pipelines, and could also accommodate pedestrian movement, streamlining future utility management and accessibility.
