
The District Athletics Stadium in Baralota hosted a sports festival on National Sports Day, marking the birth anniversary of hockey legend Major Dhyan Chand. Palamu MP V.D. Ram graced the event as the chief guest. The MP encouraged participants in events like the 600-meter race, the 1600-meter race, and traditional games such as Kho-Kho and Kabaddi. Winners were awarded medals, trophies, and certificates by the MP and District Sports Officer Ratan Kumar Singh. The MP inaugurated the festival by honoring Major Dhyan Chand’s image and commencing the sports events. He announced the MP Sports Festival 2025, an initiative of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, with the registration portal opening on August 29. The festival aims to unearth and develop talent from rural and marginalized areas, offering them a platform to showcase their skills. Sports events will be held at various levels, including Gram Panchayat, Block, and District levels, with registration open from August 29 to September 20. The festival encompasses a wide range of sports, including volleyball, badminton, athletics, karate, wrestling, Kho Kho, Kabaddi, and tug-of-war.
