A shocking incident in Ranchi, Jharkhand, saw an unidentified assailant storm a house late Sunday and open fire on a man, resulting in his death. The attacker fired approximately five to six shots during the incident. A second individual, who attempted to pursue the perpetrator, was also shot and seriously wounded. The shooting occurred in the Jhakhara Tand area, under the Ratu police station’s jurisdiction.
Ravi Sao was shot and killed in Jhakhara Tand, with three shots fired by the assailant. Balma, who gave chase, was critically injured by the gunfire. The incident has caused widespread panic and unease in the region. Upon learning of the incident, Ranchi’s Rural SP Praveen Pushkar, DSP, and officers from the Ratu police station rushed to the scene. A forensic team is on-site, gathering evidence.
Initial investigations suggest that a land dispute may have been the motive behind the murder. The deceased was a resident of Tandwa, in the Chatra district of Jharkhand. The police have taken the body for a post-mortem examination, and the injured Balma has been admitted to RIMS Hospital for treatment. The reasons for this heinous act are still unknown, but early investigations point towards a possible land dispute.
The attacker fled the scene following the shooting. SP Praveen Pushkar reported that the deceased, Ravi Sao, was drinking with Dadu Balma at Pradeep Munda’s home when the unidentified assailant arrived. The assailant then shot Ravi Sao three times, killing him, and also shot at Balma, who was attempting to pursue him. The police are investigating CCTV footage from the area and are also conducting checks at entry and exit points in Ranchi to try and capture the suspect.
The incident has caused fear and concern among the local community. On August 10, another shooting occurred near Bhatti Chowk, in the Hindpidhi police station area of Ranchi, where Sahil Giddi, also known as Kurkure, was shot dead in broad daylight. After that shooting, local residents protested, leading to damage and arson at the homes of several accused, including a former councilor.
