A special awareness campaign, aimed at combating prohibited substances, has been launched in East Singhbhum district by the state government. Deputy Commissioner Karn Satyarthi inaugurated the campaign with the flagging off of an awareness chariot from the Collectorate. This chariot is set to visit different blocks within the district to inform residents about the detrimental effects of drug use. Addressing the gathering, the Deputy Commissioner administered an anti-addiction oath to the officials and staff present. He underscored the broad consequences of substance abuse, affecting personal well-being, future prospects, family, and the larger community, leading to both mental and physical ailments. The Deputy Commissioner urged active participation from all sectors of society to establish a drug-free environment and encouraged citizens to spread awareness among their acquaintances. The district administration’s initiative will broadcast the message of freedom from addiction across the district, inspiring everyone to abstain from substance abuse. The campaign, running from June 10 to June 26, 2025, will incorporate various awareness programs to educate the populace on the adverse impacts of drug usage.
