Anurag Gupta, formerly the Director General of Police (DGP) for Jharkhand, is now facing severe accusations of engaging in organized crime and corruption. A formal complaint has been lodged at the Doranda police station by advocate Rajiv Kumar, who has leveled serious allegations against the ex-DGP. Kumar claims that Gupta used his position to facilitate criminal operations and illicit financial gains, including the large-scale extortion of funds and the leadership of criminal syndicates.
The complaint highlights the alleged formation of a criminal group named ‘Koyalanchal Shanti Samiti’ by Anurag Gupta and other individuals, including the well-known criminal Sujit Sinha. As DGP, Gupta is accused of secretly managing this extensive criminal organization and orchestrating the collection of crores of rupees from a wide array of professionals and businessmen throughout Jharkhand. This alleged victim list includes coal merchants, contractors, transporters, doctors, and business owners.
These explosive claims echo public statements made by Babulal Marandi, Leader of the Opposition in the Jharkhand Assembly. Marandi had previously asserted in a press conference that the ‘Koyalanchal Shanti Samiti’ was supplied with weapons from Pakistan. The complaint further alleges that Anurag Gupta was responsible for a fabricated encounter of a prisoner, Aman Sahu, acting on the instructions of another criminal. The complainant stresses the profound implications of these allegations for national security.
In addition to the organized crime allegations, Gupta is accused of significant financial corruption. During his leadership roles as DG of ACB and CID, he allegedly conspired with trusted subordinates, namely DSPs Mohammad Parvez Alam, Mohammad Nehal, and Animesh Nathani, to frame his rivals through false First Information Reports (FIRs). Furthermore, the complaint details accusations of extortion targeting government officials and engineers by issuing them fake notices. Several other personnel from the ACB and CID, including Inspector Ganesh Prasad, and constables like Amar Kumar Pandey and Ranjit Rana, are named as alleged participants in these corrupt schemes.
Advocate Rajiv Kumar has officially requested a thorough judicial inquiry into the alleged criminal and corrupt activities of Anurag Gupta and his alleged network. He has urged the registration of an FIR against all involved parties, citing the necessity of this investigation for the integrity of justice and the security of Jharkhand and India.
