A grave accusation has surfaced in the Chetadih area of Giridih district concerning a woman, Anjali Devi, who is allegedly impersonating a Sahia to defraud pregnant women. The allegations state that she misleads impoverished pregnant women, particularly those seeking care at government hospitals, and then escorts them to private healthcare providers. At these private facilities, she is accused of facilitating exorbitant fee collection, causing immense suffering to economically disadvantaged women.
According to local accounts, Anjali Devi is known to operate near the Chetadih hospital. Her alleged method involves approaching pregnant women upon their arrival at the government clinic, falsely identifying herself as a Sahia, and promising enhanced medical care. She then purportedly guides them to private hospitals where they are subjected to demands for arbitrary and inflated medical expenses, placing a severe financial strain on vulnerable patients.
Information suggests that Anjali Devi has established a hotel near the hospital, which is believed to be the center of her alleged exploitative activities. This entire scheme is reportedly designed to capitalize on the desperation and limited understanding of formal healthcare systems among poor and uneducated women. The community has expressed strong disapproval of these alleged actions. Concerned citizens and social activists are petitioning the health department to conduct a comprehensive investigation, take decisive action against the fraudulent Sahia, and ensure the safety and well-being of pregnant women against such predatory practices. The gravity of these claims, if validated, would raise significant questions about healthcare governance.
