A check dam on the Balari River, near Pahad Toli village in the Karra block, suffered a collapse on Sunday due to heavy rainfall. The dam, built two years ago, could not withstand the downpour, leading to the devastation of crops cultivated by local farmers. The farmers are attributing the incident to substandard construction, alleging that the contractor failed to build adequate guard walls. This led to the dam’s inability to withstand the force of the water. Moreover, there are claims that the dam was not constructed at the designated location. The villagers of Pahad Toli have requested an inquiry into the construction and demand compensation for their losses.
