A village meeting in Dhora Basti, Baliguma Daher Tola, Jamshedpur, near the National Highway, resulted in a unanimous decision to implement a complete ban on liquor. During the meeting, presided over by Ranjit Dhora, the detrimental effects of alcohol were discussed, leading to a collective resolution for peace, security, and societal advancement. The villagers stated that out of the seven mahua liquor shops operating in the area, four vendors have closed their businesses in accordance with the village council’s decision. However, three vendors, Sanjay Dhora (Kanhu Dhora), Khukhi Dhora, Purnima Khutia, and Vishnu Dhora (Hablu Dhora), continue to illegally sell liquor, thereby negatively affecting the village’s social atmosphere. Representatives from the Dhora Basti village council met with the Deputy Commissioner on Tuesday to provide a comprehensive report and submit a memorandum. The villagers expressed their belief that the administration’s positive efforts will ensure sustained peace, social progress, and the protection of women and children.
