An atmosphere of fear has gripped Shastri Nagar in East Singhbhum following the daylight murder of Tauquir alias Gora, a figure known in local criminal circles. The shooting occurred on Thursday evening near a mosque in Block Number-2, Kadma. Two assailants on a motorcycle reportedly attacked Tauquir with bladed weapons before firing several shots. He was rushed to TMH but was declared deceased. The victim, believed to be an active member of the ‘Mardana Gang’, had a history of criminal cases and had recently been released from prison. Police are exploring the possibility of inter-gang conflict as a primary motive for the assassination. Investigators have secured bullet casings and are examining surveillance footage to trace the attackers. The Senior Superintendent of Police has pledged a swift resolution to the case, vowing to bring the perpetrators to justice.
