The Giridih district administration is actively pursuing initiatives to ensure the welfare and integration of its transgender citizens. During a recent district-level transgender welfare board meeting, Deputy Commissioner Ram Niwas Yadav emphasized the critical role of education in empowering the community and bringing them into the societal mainstream. He instructed relevant officials to explore all possible avenues to connect transgender individuals with government welfare schemes. To facilitate this, a committee will be formed, and a comprehensive socio-economic survey will be conducted to assess the educational status, employment opportunities, health conditions, and overall lifestyle of the transgender population. The administration is committed to providing transgender individuals with proper identification and rights. An upcoming campaign will focus on issuing transgender identity cards, with a strong emphasis on respecting individual privacy and ensuring data confidentiality. Moreover, the initiative aims to help transgender residents acquire essential documents such as voter ID, Aadhaar card, ABHA card, and ration card. The Deputy Commissioner reiterated the administration’s goal of making the transgender community self-reliant through skill development training, support for self-help groups, and promotion of small-scale businesses. The meeting highlighted the importance of treating transgender individuals as equal members of society, deserving of the same rights, opportunities, and respect.
