After a remarkable 20-year pursuit, the long and elusive reign of wanted Maoist leader Motilal Kisku has come to an end with his capture in Giridih. The Bihar Special Task Force (STF), aided by paramilitary units, successfully apprehended Kisku, who is linked to the Giridih prisoner transport attack. The significant arrest was made in the Deori police station area, following credible intelligence about his presence. Sources indicate that Kisku was apprehended late Thursday evening while he was at his native village. The joint tactical operation involved the Chakai police and armed forces. Kisku, hailing from Hirni village in the Chakai region of Jamui district, has been a prominent figure in the Maoist movement for two decades. He is alleged to have participated in the murder of Jivlal Paswan in Chakai and faces several criminal cases across Jamui and Giridih for involvement in Naxalite violence. Furthermore, he was reportedly a member of the squad led by the deceased zonal commander and Naxalite leader Chirag Da, and often carried an AK-47. His connection to the prisoner van incident that shook Giridih 16 years ago is also being investigated. Authorities suspect Kisku holds key information regarding weapons caches concealed by Maoists in the Giridih-Jamui border region, specifically in the Poza Bamoria area. A comprehensive search and combing operation has been initiated across the district following the arrest.
