Hazaribagh police have successfully dismantled an extortion racket targeting a local doctor, arresting six suspects. The Barkatha Police Station carried out the operation, apprehending Naved Khan alias Golu Khan, Salman Ansari, Abul Ansari, Afsar Ansari, Alok Kumar, and Satyam Kumar. Crucially, the police seized a firearm, eight live bullets, and a motorcycle used by the gang, alongside six mobile phones. The case began with a terrifying demand for ten lakh rupees made to Dr. Ghulam Rabbani on October 30th via a phone call. The threats intensified when shots were fired at the doctor’s vehicle on November 6th. Recognizing the gravity of the situation, the police registered a case at Barkatha Police Station and formed a special team. This investigative unit, operating under the leadership of the Barhi Sub-divisional Police Officer and with support from Barkatha and Gorhar police, executed raids across several locations. The coordinated effort resulted in the capture of all involved criminals and the recovery of the weapon and ammunition. The arrested individuals have confessed to their crimes. Evidence also points to the same group potentially operating in the Tatijharia Police Station area, using the same number to extort money through blackmail.
