Following a meeting on July 8th, the Hazaribagh Labor Superintendent has issued important guidelines for passenger vehicle and transport operators. The meeting, led by Anil Ranjan, focused on enforcing labor laws and ensuring fair treatment for transport workers. Operators have been warned that failure to comply with regulations regarding wages and benefits will result in action. The directives are based on the Motor Transport Workers Act of 1961, which outlines an eight-hour workday for drivers, co-drivers, and other related workers. Wages must be paid into workers’ bank accounts by the 7th of each month, as per the Payment of Wages Act of 1936. The Labor Superintendent addressed complaints of unfair treatment by some operators and stressed the importance of following the rules, particularly those derived from Supreme Court directives. A key aspect of the directives is the prohibition of child labor in all transport-related operations. The meeting provided a platform for operators to voice their concerns.
