In a significant breakthrough, Hazaribagh police have successfully apprehended six individuals accused of demanding a ten lakh rupee ransom from a local doctor. The arrested men, including Naved Khan alias Golu Khan, Salman Ansari, Abul Ansari, Afsar Ansari, Alok Kumar, and Satyam Kumar, were taken into custody by the Barkatha police. Seized from their possession were a country-made pistol, eight live cartridges, a Bajaj Pulsar motorcycle (JH 02 AL-4873), and six mobile phones. The investigation was initiated after Dr. Ghulam Rabbani reported receiving extortionate demands via phone on October 30th. The situation intensified when shots were fired at his vehicle on November 6th. Acting on a complaint filed at Barkatha police station, Superintendent of Police Anjani Anjan ordered the formation of a specialized team. This joint operation, involving Barkatha and Gorhar police, conducted raids leading to the arrest of all six perpetrators, along with the weapon and ammunition used in the crime. The suspects have reportedly confessed to their involvement. Further inquiries have uncovered that the same phone number was implicated in a similar blackmail scheme in the Tatijharia police station jurisdiction.
