Chief Minister Hemant Soren of Jharkhand has given his approval to three significant road projects designed to enhance traffic flow and modernize infrastructure in Ranchi and other major urban centers across the state. The projects were presented to the Chief Minister by Sunil Kumar, the Principal Secretary of the Road Construction Department.
Key Features of Approved Projects:
* **Argora Chowk-Kathal Mor-Chapu Toli Flyover:** This project will construct a 1.75-kilometer-long elevated flyover. The flyover will be 10 meters wide, with a 7-meter-wide road beneath it. The design includes drainage, utility ducts, beautification of the road below, full lighting, and noise barriers. The aim is to ease traffic congestion between Argora and Chapu Toli.
* **Karamtoli-Morabadi-Science City Flyover and Ring Road Extension:** This includes a 2.2-kilometer flyover from Karamtoli Chowk to Science City with a width of 10 meters, and a four-lane road extending more than 5 kilometers from Science City to the Ring Road. The project is designed to reduce traffic jams on key routes in Ranchi.
* **Ranchi Railway Station to Airport Road:** An alternative 4.7-kilometer four-lane road, featuring an 800-meter elevated section. The plan includes footpaths, covered cycle tracks, solar panel lighting, a greenfield corridor, gazebos, benches, and basic facilities. This aims to provide a faster route to the airport for residents of areas like Hatia, Doranda, Hinoo, and HEC.
The Chief Minister has instructed officials to expedite the Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) and the project implementation. He also directed the authorities to ensure measures to improve traffic in other major cities of Jharkhand. Other proposals under consideration include flyovers from Harmu Mukti Dham to Radisson Blu and a flyover over the Swarnarekha River.
Additional plans are being developed for cities such as Jamshedpur, Daltonganj, and others, including the Jamshedpur-Sakchi City Flyover (2.54 km) and the Daltonganj-Garhwa Alternative Corridor, an elevated circular corridor. Improvements are also planned for NHAI transition points at Ramgarh, Daltonganj, and Barkakana.
These projects are intended to reduce traffic congestion, generate local employment, boost investment, and promote industrial growth. The Chief Minister emphasized the need for timely execution and regular reviews, framing these initiatives as vital steps towards a modern and developed Jharkhand.
