
The demise of Shibu Soren, the founder of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) and former Chief Minister of Jharkhand, has prompted a wave of mourning, especially from his son, current Chief Minister Hemant Soren. Shibu Soren passed away after a prolonged illness at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital in Delhi. Hemant Soren expressed his grief on social media, revealing that he was going through the most difficult period of his life following his father’s death.
Chief Minister Soren highlighted his father’s significant role, referring to him as a guiding light and the core of his own beliefs. He spoke of his father’s humble beginnings, growing up in an environment of poverty but possessing immense courage. He recalled his father’s early experiences, including the loss of his own father and the subsequent impact of injustice. He remembered his father interacting with the people, and sharing their hardships, not just giving speeches. When Hemant inquired about why his father was called ‘Dishom Guru,’ his father explained that it was because he understood their suffering and made their battles his own. He mentioned that the title was not bestowed by any official body but came from the hearts of the people, adding that his father taught them how to live life.
Hemant Soren recounted witnessing his father’s resilience in the face of adversity, noting that while he would be scared, his father never wavered. He recalled his father’s unwavering commitment to fighting injustice. He said that his father’s struggle was ingrained in his every action. He also mentioned how the formation of Jharkhand fulfilled his father’s dream, and that his father never saw power as an achievement. He ended his post by promising to continue his father’s work and to ensure Jharkhand’s prosperity. He expressed that his father lives on in every part of Jharkhand, and he vowed to honor his father’s legacy.
