Four miners died and six were injured in a coal mine collapse at the CCL Karma Project in Ramgarh, Jharkhand. The incident occurred during illegal mining operations at the Central Coalfields Limited (CCL) project in Kuju. A sudden cave-in of the coal seam resulted in the tragic loss of life. Injured individuals have been admitted to the hospital for treatment, with two in critical condition. The victims were reportedly involved in unauthorized coal extraction when the accident took place. The collapse of a portion of the illegal mine trapped four people, leading to their deaths. Local residents who arrived at the scene recovered three bodies. The deceased have been identified as Imtiaz, Rameswar Manjhi, Vakil Karmali, and Nirmal Munda.
Local residents are placing blame on CCL management, citing negligence. They allege that the lack of adequate safety measures, such as boundary walls or fencing, allowed easy access to the mine, contributing to the disaster. Allegations of violations of DGMS (Directorate General of Mines Safety) regulations have also been raised. Following the accident, the administration initiated rescue and relief operations. JCB machines are being used to clear the debris and reach those trapped. Currently, four people are confirmed dead, with reports indicating that others may still be buried under the rubble.
