
A group of 28 female students from government schools in the East Singhbhum district returned from an educational visit to ISRO and met with Deputy Commissioner Karn Satyarthi at his residence. During the meeting on Sunday, they shared their experiences and participated in a luncheon. The students described the three-day trip as a life-altering opportunity. They reflected on the unique and memorable nature of their journey, marking their first time traveling outside of their village, flying on a plane, visiting an airport, exploring a new state, and gaining insights into science, technology, art, and culture. The visit to the Satish Dhawan Space Centre at ISRO in Sriharikota was a significant highlight, evoking feelings of pride and inspiration as they observed the satellite launch procedures and the work of the scientists. The students’ exploration of Mahabalipuram, museums, and historical landmarks in Chennai provided an understanding of Indian culture. The technical innovations showcased at the RMK Institute of Engineering campus were highly educational and inspiring. Additionally, the students learned from the discipline and collaborative nature of the students at the Model School in Kovalam. They also obtained valuable information about sports and the history of Indian railways during their visits to the MA Chidambaram Stadium and the Railway Museum. The students collectively acknowledged that the trip broadened their perspectives and felt like a dream fulfilled. Deputy Commissioner Karn Satyarthi lauded the students’ enthusiasm and confidence, recognizing the educational excursion as a chance to shape their aspirations. He asserted that the integration of science, culture, and technology would not only enlighten the students but also cultivate their self-assurance. He expressed his conviction that the students would evolve into scientists, technical experts, and role models for society. Present at the meeting were Deputy Development Commissioner Nagendra Paswan, DTO Dhananjay, outgoing Executive Magistrate cum DTO Dumka Mrityunjay Kumar, along with the teachers and other dignitaries who accompanied the students.
