The Jharkhand Assembly’s winter session was thrown into disarray on Monday following a strong protest by the opposition over the pending scholarship payments. Finance Minister Radha Krishna Kishore presented the second supplementary budget, valued at Rs 7,721 crore. However, the presentation was immediately followed by disruptive protests from opposition MLAs demanding urgent attention to the scholarship crisis. Chants and the banging of tables filled the assembly hall, with marshals confiscating protest posters. Speaker Rabindranath Mahto’s efforts to initiate the Zero Hour were unsuccessful as the opposition’s concerns took precedence, culminating in the house’s adjournment until Tuesday.
