Minister Deepak Birua has indicated that the Displaced Persons Commission is awaiting cabinet approval. The procedural aspects are complete, and the next step is clearance from the cabinet. This information was conveyed during the monsoon session, in response to an inquiry from MLA Jayram Mahato regarding the plight of displaced persons. Mahato questioned the government’s approach, claiming that it is only offering assurances without concrete solutions. The MLA cited the prior commitment to form the commission within 90 days, a promise which has not been honored. Birua emphasized that the commission will be formed promptly after the cabinet grants its approval.
